Through a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, the Minnesota Vikings have successfully addressed a significant need in the running back room. 

According to many sources, Schefter wrote on X the following trade information: "Trade: Rams are sending RB Cam Akers to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a swap of 2026 draft picks." 

The transaction involved a trade of draft picks for a period of time in the far future.

The initial story that Schefter provided did not have any details regarding the round of the 2026 draft in which the teams will trade their selections for one another. 

Akers was selected by Los Angeles with the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the draft in the year 2020.  

The running back is currently competing in the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, which is worth $6.2 million.
